Most of my early professional work was ethnographic, having received doctoral training in anthropology. I later began crafting stories with materials, sounds and light to express what is beyond language. I still work in relationship with people but mostly, nowadays, with plants and soils whose lessons are far worthier of our attention.

Natural Areas Conservancy

Restoring NYC's Blue and Green Spaces

Working in close partnership with the City of New York, the Natural Areas Conservancy was created in 2012 to restore and protect New York City's 20,000 acres of wild forests and wetlands, improve coastal resilience, and promote nature’s diversity across the five boroughs.

Following my invitation to a stakeholder’s logo-reveal meeting at Pentagram studios, I had conversation with the Conservancy's co-founders about access and stewardship that mirrored NYC’s cultural diversity.

I was contracted to edit their inaugural website copy with an early eye towards social inclusion.
