Most of my early professional work was ethnographic, having received doctoral training in anthropology. I later began crafting stories with materials, sounds and light to express what is beyond language. I still work in relationship with people but mostly, nowadays, with plants and soils whose lessons are far worthier of our attention.

Brooklyn Botanic Garden

As the 2022 Curator of Public Practice for the Brooklyn Botanic Garden, established in 1910, I led the development, design and writing of a “Guide to Becoming Better Listeners and Co-Creators,” part of the institution’s Interpretative Master Plan.

On the ground, that looked like me working cross-functionally across all Garden departments and convening conversations among 160+ staff to inform inclusive curatorial processes and interpretation of botanical collections with the goal of co-creating new themes for exhibits and programing.
