Most of my early professional work was ethnographic, having received doctoral training in anthropology. I later began crafting stories with materials, sounds and light to express what is beyond language. I still work in relationship with people but mostly, nowadays, with plants and soils whose lessons are far worthier of our attention.

I launched and produced a boutique retail arm of my company (2010-2014) featuring storied tools, ornaments, and provisions from five continents. I was responsible for all domestic and international sourcing, marketing, sales, packaging, and environmental design for the physical and online shop. Our online shop received customers from around the US, Europe, Asia, and Africa, while the bricks-and-mortar shop, located in downtown Manhattan, attracted New Yorkers of all stripes. As a result of the shop’s success, I was selected by the Smithsonian Institution in 2013 to advise on design and procurement of goods for the Festival Marketplace on the National Mall.
