Most of my early professional work was ethnographic, having received doctoral training in anthropology. I later began crafting stories with materials, sounds and light to express what is beyond language. I still work in relationship with people but mostly, nowadays, with plants and soils whose lessons are far worthier of our attention.

After a morning bike detour to take some sun at the park, we’re back at the studio sorting and editing photos from our great shoot this weekend with Erin Orr.

Soon up on our site will be these corsets - a hand-stitched collaboration between Smithsonian Folkways and Alabama Chanin for LORE. 

In the meantime go hear some live music. Guitars, banjos, horns, drums...truly do surround hate and force it to surrender.
