Most of my early professional work was ethnographic, having received doctoral training in anthropology. I later began crafting stories with materials, sounds and light to express what is beyond language. I still work in relationship with people but mostly, nowadays, with plants and soils whose lessons are far worthier of our attention.

Upcoming Talk

I’ll be talking about our leather sourcing work at the New Amsterdam Market School on Sunday, November 6. The entire Meat Symposium is in celebration of the radicalization of the middle — processing, which my partners Will and Jenni Harris of White Oak Pastures have pioneered.

You’ll also get to learn about Adam Tiberio’s new project — Tiberio Custom Meats. He’s opening a USDA-inspected cut-and-wrap meat processing facility here in New York City offering chefs, Greenmarket farmers, natural meat companies, and retail consumers a unique, cost-effective, and innovative custom fabrication option. Hope to see you there! Don’t let Passerotti’s 16th century painting scare you away.
