Most of my early professional work was ethnographic, having received doctoral training in anthropology. I later began crafting stories with materials, sounds and light to express what is beyond language. I still work in relationship with people but mostly, nowadays, with plants and soils whose lessons are far worthier of our attention.

Visitor Experience Design

Visitor Experience Design

Building on its very successful collaborations between industry and its Schools of Engineering, Technology, Medicine and Science, in 2015, Drexel University established the Center for Cultural Partnerships to extend cooperative learning and teaching opportunities to students and faculty in the Humanities, Architecture and Design departments.

The Center partners with Philadelphia's legacy cultural institutions (museums, libraries and historical societies) to offer Drexel students new sites of learning and offer the cultural institutions fresh perspectives and technical assistance to invigorate programming, staffing, and design.

With Dr. Rosalind Remer, the Center’s founding Lenfest Executive Director,  I designed and produced an audit of our museum partner's visitor experiences. Following thorough fieldwork, the result was a detailed and graphically compelling report presenting new programmatic opportunities to support the struggling institution, and included CAD renderings for a new building entry and reception area, first floor exhibits, and retail shop.

I also brought on two graduate students from Drexel’s Architecture Department, working with them on intakes and observations. In addition to a work-life experience, their contributions proved to be very valuable to the audit itself and were included in the final client report.
